Usual celebration
The Cádiz Carnival is usually held for more than one week in February or March, according to each year's calendar. Gran Teatro Falla, Plaza de San Antonio, Plaza de la Catedral, La Viña neighbourhood and the central streets host chirigotas, comparsas, choirs, carousel performances, the opening address, the parade and street songs.
The Town Hall organises the official calendar with Carnival groups, clubs and organisations; residents, children and visitors take part both in the theatre and in the street celebration.
2026 programme
The official 2026 Carnival programme covered eleven calendar days, from 12 to 22 February. The opening on the 12th included the children's opening address and a concert; the cycle gave greater prominence to Carnival songs, children's programming and Casa del Carnaval, alongside street groups, the parade and choir carousels.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Official Gazette of the Andalusian Government sets Monday 16 February 2026 and Wednesday 7 October 2026, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, as Cádiz's local public holidays.
Other events
