La Feria del Caballo It is the main popular celebration of Jerez. In 2026 it will be celebrated 9 May to 16, lasting eight days and the González Hontoria park as the central venue. Among its traditions are the lighting of the lights, horse riding and harnesses, morphological and dressage competitions, equestrian shows and life in the booths. The programme added days dedicated to children, Jerez gastronomy, women and the diaspora. The City Council, cassette players, livestock farms and equestrian entities, artists, families, neighbors and visitors participate.
The booths, horse riding, horse riding, flamenco and gastronomy linked to Sherry wine distinguish the fair. The 2026 municipal calendar also incorporates the Holy Week, from 29 March to 5 April, and the Festivals in la Vendimia, from 29 August to 13 September. The latter last for sixteen days and preserve the inaugural tradition of the Grape Press in the Cathedral Redoubt, along with tastings and activities in wineries and spaces in the historic centre.
Local public holidays in 2026: The official resolution of the Regional Government of Andalusia establishes the 11 May, within the Horse Fair, and the 24 September, Our Lady of Mercy. They are non-working days, paid and non-recoverable. This condition only affects those two dates: neither the eight days of the fair nor the entire Harvest period are public holidays.
