Local festivals of Baena

La Semana Santa de Baena, declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, is the most emblematic celebration of the town. The Baena Jew's drumbeat is also protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest. The Virgin of Guadalupe and the Royal Fair are two other central events in the festive calendar.

• Date and duration: Holy Week 2026 took place from 29 March to 5 April, although its ritual cycle begins during Lent with the misereres. The Virgin of Guadalupe is celebrated on 7 September and 8. The Royal Fair begins the Wednesday before the first weekend in October and lasts for several days.
• Usual places: the churches of Our Lady of Guadalupe, San Francisco and other temples, the streets of the processional routes, the Plaza de la Constitución, the Paseo de Guadalupe and the Municipal Booth.
• Traditions: The drum accompanies the Holy Week parades and distinguishes the mobs of white-tailed and black-tailed Jews. Brotherhoods, brotherhoods and groups participate in Lent processions and events. The September festivities honour the patron saint and the Royal Fair combines booths, music, attractions and popular activities.
• Participación: The City Council, the Association of Brotherhoods, brothers, groups of Jews, bands, associations, clubs, residents of Baena and Albendín and numerous visitors participate.
• Local public holidays in 2026: The official calendar of Andalusia sets for Baena the 19 March and the 14 September. They are official working days and are not equivalent to the full duration of Holy Week, the patron saint festivities or the Royal Fair.
