Cascamorras, Virgen de la Piedad Fair and Baza holidays
The most unique celebration of Baza is the Cascamorras, whose main date is 6 September. The character arrives from Guadix to try to reach the temple of the Virgin of La Piedad without stains; Thousands of participants covered in black paint and oil walk the streets with him. The race, declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, ends at the Merced Church and opens the cycle of the Fair and Festivals.
