Local festivals in Guadix
Guadix arranges its festive calendar around San Torcuato, the late-summer Feria y Fiestas and Cascamorras's return on 9 September. The Town Council, brotherhoods, parishes, associations, musicians, fairground workers and residents take part in distinct celebrations held in churches, streets, squares and the fairground.
Usual celebration
San Torcuato is celebrated every 15 May and from the preceding weekend, with a pilgrimage from Arco de San Torcuato to the sanctuary at Face Retama, Mass, a torchlight procession, floral offering, opening speech and a procession through Guadix. The fair lasts several days from late August into early September, bringing daytime and night-time casetas, rides, concerts and family activities to the fairground. Cascamorras's main welcome takes place on the afternoon of 9 September, with the popular run to the San Miguel district.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Andalusian Government resolution declares Friday 15 May and Wednesday 9 September as Guadix's local public holidays. They coincide with San Torcuato and Cascamorras's return respectively, but that coincidence does not make the other days of the fair or patronal events non-working holidays.
Other events
Las Cruces de Mayo decorates crosses and small chavicos; the San Antón bonfires, Holy Week, Virgen de las Angustias and the Guadix Clásica music season complete the year. Each event retains its own calendar, duration and venues rather than forming a single annual programme.
