Columbian Festivals and Virgen de la Cinta
Las Columbian Holidays They commemorate the departure of the ships of the Columbian voyage, which occurred on 3 August 1492. That is their main date and the celebration usually takes place between the end of July and the beginning of August. The edition of 2026 está fijada del 29 July to 3 August, with a duration of seis días; 28 July is reserved for the lighting test and Children's Day.
El recinto colombino It concentrates booths, attractions and concerts, while the estuary and other urban spaces maintain the maritime and historical connection of the festival. Among the traditions are the lighting of the lights, coexistence in the booths, family activities and musical programming. In 2026, six nights of free concerts with national, emerging artists and local talent have been announced, and the cover is dedicated to Palos de la Frontera for the centenary of the Plus Ultra flight. The City Council, cassette players, fairgrounds, artists, associations, families, neighbors and visitors participate.
Local public holidays in 2026: The City Council set the 3 August, for the Columbian Holidays, and the 8 September, festival of Our Lady of the Ribbon. These two official working days are different from the full duration of the Columbines and other festive or religious events.
