Festivals in Antequera
Local festivals of Antequera
The Royal August Fair is the main civil celebration of Antequera; The Spring Fair and the festival of Our Lady of Remedies complete the most important municipal events.
Usual celebration: Royal August Fair
It is usually celebrated for five days in the second half of August. The fair was born from the privilege granted by Fernando VI in 1748 and preserves traditions such as the pilgrimage of the Señor de la Verónica, the lighting of the lighting, the proclamation, the National Porra Antequerana Competition and the flamenco and short dress competition. During the day, associations and brotherhoods participate in the town centre and the Paseo Real; In the afternoon and evening, booths, attractions and shows are concentrated in the Fairgrounds and the Bullring. The City Council, its Festival Area, fairgrounds, clubs and local groups organise and support the events.
