Hazelnut Festivals, pilgrimages and holidays of Allande
The main celebration of Pola de Allande honours Our Lady of Hazelnut, whose main date is 8 September. The municipal agenda places the festivals usually on 8 September to 10, lasting three days. The tradition is linked to the harvesting of hazelnuts and the making of hazelnut cake.
The events themselves take place in the Avellano hermitage, the parish church of San Andrés, the Toral Park, the river promenade and the streets of Pola de Allande. The novena, the mass in the hermitage, the procession of the image accompanied by a bagpipe band, the Avellano pyrotechnic discharge, the proclamation, the festivals, the parade of peñas and family activities are maintained. The City Council, the celebration society, clubs, cultural and senior associations, musicians, neighbors and visitors participate.
The City Council also highlights the San Antonio Livestock Show and Show, 13 June, and the pilgrimage of Our Lady of Bedramón, on 15 August, in the sanctuary located almost 1,000 meters above sea level. The summer festivals of the towns of the council and San Martín on 11 November complete a calendar with livestock and neighbourhood roots.
