Local festivals of Teverga

Among the best-known celebrations of the council are the Festivals in Santiago en San Martín, with main day 25 July, and the Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Cebrano, asociada al 15 August in Carrera. The traditional pilgrimage of Cueiro, at the beginning of September, as a country festival linked to the Veiga de Cueiro.

• Día principal: 25 July for Santiago in San Martín and 15 August for Nuestra Señora del Cebrano.
• Usual duration: celebrations of several days or pilgrimage day, according to the published annual programme.
• Usual places: San Martín, Carrea and the surroundings of Cueiro, according to the festival.
• Associated traditions: religious events, pilgrimages, neighbourhood gatherings, picnics, music and popular activities when scheduled.
• Participación: City Council, neighbourhood, associations, families, visitors and local organisation of each celebration.
• Local public holiday: It must be verified each year in the official work calendar or in the current municipal agreement before closing it.
• Other events and culture: livestock fairs, activities linked to the Senda del Oso, heritage of San Pedro de Teverga, Cueva Huerta and the Prehistory Park.
