Local festivals in Amurrio
Amurrio's patronal festivities bring together the Town Council, cuadrillas, associations, residents and visitors around Our Lady of the Assumption and San Roque. The programme combines community events, music, theatre, sport, food competitions and children's activities.
Usual celebration
The festivities run from 12 to 17 August and last six days. The calendar distinguishes the opening rocket, days devoted to children and the cuadrillas, Our Lady on 15 August, San Roque on 16 August and the repetition of San Roque on 17 August. The descent of Iguarrako and the cuadrillas' float parade through the town-centre streets and squares are among the most recognisable traditions.
Local public holidays in 2026
Álava's employment calendar declares 28 April, San Prudencio, across the Historic Territory, and 17 August in Amurrio, linked to San Roque, as paid, non-recoverable local holidays. These are the two local public holidays in 2026 and must not be confused with the six-day festive period.
