Basauri local festivals
Los Sanfaustos, around the day of Saint Faust, the 13 October, are the main celebration of Basauri. The date and duration of the 2026 edition son del 10 October to 18, nine days set by the City Council, with the market installed on the Uribarri ring road and the extension of Matxitxako street. Herriko Taldeak's groups support a good part of the participatory model: they occupy squares, streets and stages with music, activities and popular meetings. The Eskarabillera, a figure linked to the women who collected coal on the roads and industrial waste dumps, is one of its own symbols.
The programming already confirmed for 2026 includes the Día del Artista Local 11 October, the band festival Festibas on the 12th and the craft fair on the 13th, as well as concerts between the 10th and 17th. These specific events belong to the 2026 edition; The complete programme may incorporate other events when it is closed.
The neighbourhood of San Miguel also celebrates its festivities, in 2026 26 September to 4 October. Its market is located on Elizondo Street, which allows us to distinguish this festive cycle from the Sanfaustos of the urban centre.
Local public holidays in 2026: The official calendar declares non-working, paid and non-recoverable 31 July, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, for all of Bizkaia, and the 13 October, San Fausto, as Basauri's own festival. The nine-day holiday period does not convert all days into holiday work days.
