Local festivals of Ávila
The most recognisable patron saint celebration of Avila is that of Saint Teresa of Jesus, 15 October. The festive period usually takes up several days in October with religious, cultural, musical and popular events, although the specific duration changes depending on the annual programme.
The events focus on the historic centre, the Mercado Chico square, the Cathedral, the church and convent of Santa Teresa and other cultural spaces. Traditions include the procession, liturgical events, concerts, family activities, market and programming around the wall. The City Council, cultural entities, brotherhoods, associations, neighbors and visitors participate.
The local public holiday must be checked each year in the official calendar of Castilla y Leon and in the current municipal agreement. Other events and cultural offerings: Medieval Days, Holy Week, Avila Mistica activities, Lienzo Norte, museums, wall and municipal tourist programming.
