Pandorga, August Fair and Ciudad Real holidays

The most typical celebration of Ciudad Real is the Pandorga, whose main date is 31 July. It was born as a popular tribute to the Virgin of the Prado and maintains the proclamation of the Pandorgo and the Dulcinea, the parade of clubs and folklore groups and the offering of flowers, fruits and farm products in the Cathedral. The day before, the Limoná Contest is held at the fairgrounds: families, associations and groups of friends prepare this traditional drink, while the Zurra brings together youth. Although the traditional core occupies the 30th and 31st, its cultural duration extends throughout July.

El Pandorga 2026 municipal programme distributed activities throughout the month. It included the first official poster, the presentation of Dulcinea, concerts, a night race and, on 30 July, the 47th edition of the Limoná Contest at the La Granja fairgrounds. On the 31st, the main events were concentrated in the Antiguo Casino, the Paseo del Prado, the Cathedral and the streets of the centre. The Department of Celebrations, the Brotherhood of Pandorgos, clubs, choir and dance groups, security forces, neighbors and visitors participate.

The second main quote is Fair and Festivals of the Virgen del Prado. In 2026 its official duration is nine days, from 14 August to 22, with the fairgrounds as a space for attractions and concerts and the Plaza Mayor as the scene of the traditional Vermouth Dance. The processions of the patron saint are celebrated on 15 August and in the Octava, on the 22nd.

Los local public holidays in Ciudad Real in 2026 son el 25 May, by the Pilgrimage of Santa María de Alarcos, and the 22 August, Octave of the Virgin of the Prado. They are official working days and should not be confused with the entire duration of the Pandorga or the Fair.
