Alovera local festivals

Alovera maintains a festive calendar spread throughout the year. Its main celebrations are dedicated to the Virgin of Peace and to the Virgen del Carmen, along with San Miguel and the bonfires of Santa Lucía.

• Date and duration: The festival of the Virgin of Peace is on 24 January, with events also on the eve. The Virgen del Carmen centres the September festivities and its main day is the 8th; It is usually preceded by a cultural, sports and leisure week. San Miguel is celebrated on the Sunday closest to 29 September and the bonfires of Santa Lucía are celebrated on 12 December.
• Usual places: the hermitage of the Virgin of Peace, the parish church, the Plaza Mayor and the streets of the processional route. The Senior Centre and different sports and cultural spaces host complementary activities.
• Traditions: Around the Virgin of Peace, the processional transfer from the hermitage to the parish takes place, accompanied by the band, and the distribution of buns continues. The September festivities combine religious events with cultural, sports, musical and family events. In December, the Santa Lucía bonfires bring together residents in the Plaza Mayor.
• Participación: associations, clubs, cultural and sports groups, seniors, families and visitors participate in a programme that changes each edition. It is advisable to consult the schedules, locations and registrations published by the City Council.
• Local public holidays in 2026: The official calendar establishes the 26 January and the 8 September. In 2026, the January work break is moved to Monday the 26th and, therefore, does not exactly coincide with the traditional holiday of Saturday the 24th.
