Festivals in Azuqueca de Henares

Local festivals of Azuqueca de Henares

The main celebrations are San Isidro, in May, and Semana Grande in September, whose float parade is a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest.

Usual celebration: Semana Grande and float parade

Semana Grande usually begins on the third Sunday in September and lasts around seven days. Its most unique act is the nighttime float parade: the public clubs work for months on structures, sets, costumes and choreographies before traveling about two kilometers from Río Henares Street along the Alovera and Torrelaguna roads and Francisco Vives Avenue to the Plaza de la Constitución. The City Council, the clubs, associations, clubs and municipal services also participate in proclamations, parades, concerts, festivals, running of the bulls, theater, sports activities and popular food, distributed among the Fairgrounds, the San Miguel complex, La Quebradilla park and the House of Culture.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara declares as paid and non-recoverable local festivals the 15 May and the 21 September. The first coincides with San Isidro and the second with Semana Grande; Not the entire duration of the celebrations is unworkable.

Otras citas culturales: San Isidro

San Isidro is usually celebrated around 15 May and remembers Azuqueca's agricultural past. The Festival of the Spike and the Exhibition of Traditional Rounds are among its traditions, along with cultural and neighbourhood activities promoted by the City Council and local groups in squares and municipal spaces.
