Local festivals of Cabanillas del Campo
San Blas, the Christ of the Expiration and the Summer Festivals bring together religious traditions and the participation of clubs and associations of the municipality.
Usual celebration
San Blas is celebrated every 3 February for one day and preserves the Botarga, recovered in 2022, along with the Campana character. In May, the Christ of the Expiration remembers the neighbourhood vote formulated in the face of a locust plague in 1857 and combines mass, distribution of sweets and processions. The Summer Festivals usually last six days in July, with a proclamation, a parade of clubs and floats, concerts, running of the bulls, games, meals and family activities. The City Council and the Celebrations Department coordinate clubs, associations, clubs, the parish community and municipal services in the Town Square, the Fairgrounds, the church, sports facilities and authorized streets.
2026 programme
The festivals of Christ were celebrated from 1 May to 3: The inaugural parade left the Plaza del Pueblo towards the Fair tent, and on 2 May there was a sung mass, distribution of sweets from the La Campiña Association and a procession. The Summer Festivals developed from 21 July to 26 with more than 75 proposals: proclamation of the Peña La Movida, free concerts, two running of the bulls through the countryside in the area of San Blas, parade of clubs and floats, Tortilla Day, stew dinner and children's events. The previous programming began on 16 July with inter-peñas games and sports activities.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara declares paid and non-recoverable local festivals on 3 February, San Blas, and the 24 July, within the Summer Festivals. The other days of May and July are not non-working days due to that declaration.
Otras citas culturales
La Botarga and El Campana tour Cabanillas during San Blas and express a tradition recovered with the participation of the La Campiña Women's Association, local chroniclers and the City Council. In summer, the rice and paella competition in the Plaza del Pueblo and the activities organised in the clubs' premises reinforce neighbourhood coexistence.
