Local festivals in Gavà
Gavà has two patronal town festivals: Sant Pere opens the summer around 29 June, while Sant Nicasi marks the winter celebration around 14 December. The City Council organises the programmes with the city's cultural, sports and neighbourhood organisations.
Usual celebration
The Festa Major de Sant Pere usually lasts several days around 29 June. Parc de la Torre Lluc, Plaça de Jaume Balmes, Espai Maragall, central streets and the beach at Gavà Mar host the opening speech, sardanes, parades, music, family activities, popular culture and fireworks. Sant Nicasi occupies several days in December, linking the co-patron's festival with the Mercat de Sant Nicasi on La Rambla and the municipal Christmas and Epiphany season.
Programme for 2026
The official Sant Pere edition ran from 25 to 29 June. Núria Casas delivered the opening speech in Parc de la Torre Lluc; the programme included Petit Sant Pere, films, workshops, sport, sardanes in Plaça de Josep Tarradellas, popular-culture parades and a firework display on the beach. On 29 June the Festa Major service took place in Sant Pere parish church, and a habanera concert closed the programme at Torre Lluc.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Generalitat's official calendar declares Monday 29 June and Monday 14 December as Gavà's local public holidays. These are the municipality's two paid, non-recoverable non-working days; the other days in the Sant Pere and Sant Nicasi programmes do not become public holidays merely because festival events take place.
Other events
The Mercat de Sant Nicasi brings crafts, local shops and restaurants to La Rambla, while the winter programme continues with family activities, illuminations, Christmas and Epiphany events into January. Local businesses, associations, craftspeople, schools and community groups take part in these occasions.
