Les Santes, honouring Juliana and Semproniana, are Mataró's principal Festa Major; the May Fira and seafront events broaden the city's festive calendar.
Usual celebration
Les Santes are usually celebrated around 27 July and last several days. The principal places are the historic centre, Basílica de Santa Maria, Parc Central, Passeig Marítim and Platja del Varador, which host the Crida, cercaviles, gegants, castells, correfocs, concerts, fireworks, religious events and family activities. The City Council organises them with comparses, colles, cultural groups, artists, volunteers, residents and visitors.
Programme for 2026
The 2026 edition ran from 18 to 29 July with more than one hundred events. Les Dissantes opened the cycle at the Parc Central fairground; the centre concentrated the popular-culture events, Passeig Marítim and Platja del Varador hosted havaneres, gospel and concerts, and Llar Cabanellas brought together family activities and world music. On 27 July, after the fireworks, The Tyets and Svetlana performed at Nou Parc Central.
Local public holidays in 2026
The municipal calendar declares Monday 25 May, Fira a Mataró, and Monday 27 July, Festa Major de Les Santes, as local public holidays. These are the two local non-working days in 2026; the full programme from 18 to 29 July does not have that employment scope.
Other cultural events
Other events include Fira de Mataró, seafront cultural activities and the programme of museums, theatres and local groups, which maintain spring and summer dates outside the main Les Santes period.
