Mollet holds two major festivals: Sant Vicenç in winter and the Festa Major d'Estiu, centred on the Vot del Poble and the festive rivalry between the Morats and Torrats colles.

Usual celebration

The main day of the Festa Major d'Hivern is 22 January, while the summer festival is organised around the Sunday after 15 August. Plaça Prat de la Riba, Plaça Pau Casals, Plaça Major, Parc de Can Mulà, Mercat Vell, Museu Abelló, La Marineta, the Envelat and Sant Vicenç church host concerts, theatre, giants, sardanes, castellers, correfoc, parades, sport, food events and family activities.

Programme for 2026

The Sant Vicenç edition spread its events from 9 January to 1 February 2026. The summer programme began with colla activities on 10 August and concentrated its main events from 14 to 18 August: it included Baixada d'Andròmines, Castellers rehearsals, Gran Confitada, giants and the Morats and Torrats challenges, ending with Ball del Fanalet and the announcement of the winning colla.

Local public holidays in 2026

The municipal council approved Thursday 22 January, the Sant Vicenç Festa Major d'Hivern, and Monday 17 August, the Festa Major d'Estiu, as the two local public holidays. They are non-working days only in Mollet del Vallès; other programme dates retain the status given by the general working calendar.

Origins and usual tradition

Both are local celebrations of Mollet del Vallès in Vallès Oriental. The winter festival is linked to the parish patron Sant Vicenç, documented since at least 1044. The summer festival forms part of the Catalan Festa Major tradition and the Vot del Poble on the Sunday after Mare de Déu d'Agost; since 1994, its hallmark has been the Morats and Torrats contest.

Events and traditions

Winter brings concerts, theatre, family events, exhibitions and visits to Museu Abelló, the giants' gathering, sardanes and popular culture around Sant Vicenç. Summer features the opening speech, parades, giants, castellers, correfoc, sardanes, concerts, children's, sporting and food events, dancing and a pyrotechnic show. Morats and Torrats compete in challenges including blood donation, despertada, Corregot, Afartada and Ball del Fanalet.

Duration of events

The Sant Vicenç programme may extend across several January weekends, although its ceremonial centre and local holiday fall on 22 January. The summer festival normally concentrates its main events into about five days, preceded by a week of colla activities; individual concerts, cercaviles and challenges usually last a few hours.

Local history

Sant Vicenç is Mollet's older major festival: the Town Council traces the patron's connection with the parish to the first record of his church in 1044. The summer festival preserves the Vot del Poble and combines the festive procession, giants, devils and dances with contemporary events. Since 1994, Morats and Torrats have earned points in challenges before Ball del Fanalet and the announcement of the winner.

Events take place throughout Mollet del Vallès. Recurring venues include the Prat de la Riba, Pau Casals and Major squares, Parc de Can Mulà, Mercat Vell, Museu Abelló, La Marineta and Sant Vicenç church. The summer programme also uses the Envelat and central streets for parades.

Participants and organisation

The Town Council coordinates the festivities with local organisations. Colla Morada and Colla dels Torrats lead the summer contest and organise many events; Colla Gegantera, Ball de Diables, Castellers de Mollet, sardana groups, cultural and sports associations, Museu Abelló, artists and municipal services also take part, alongside music, neighbourhood and popular-culture groups at Sant Vicenç.

Other events and cultural dates

The Sant Vicenç gathering of giants and, in summer, the Morats and Torrats charity and recreational contest —including blood donation, Corregot, Afartada and Ball del Fanalet— are distinctive cultural events within the municipal calendar.
