The Festa Major de Sant Pere is Rubí's principal festival, combining the patronal feast on 29 June with Catalan popular culture, music, performing arts, sport and extensive participation by local organisations.

It is usually celebrated over several days around 29 June. Plaça Pere Aguilera, Sant Pere church, the Escardívol, the amphitheatre in Parc del Castell and other urban venues host the opening speech, giants, grallers, castellers, parades, solemn mass, sardanes, havaneres, concerts and the closing pyromusical show.
Programme for 2026
The 2026 edition ran from Friday 26 to Monday 29 June and comprised nearly 250 activities. Iván Hidalgo delivered the opening speech in Plaça Pere Aguilera, joined by popular-culture organisations, Castellers de Rubí and Gegants de Rubí; the programme also featured events devised by municipal services and cultural, youth and sports organisations.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Town Council approved Monday 16 February and Monday 29 June, the latter for the Festa Major de Sant Pere, as the two local public holidays. They are paid, non-recoverable days limited to the municipality; the rest of the festival programme is not a non-working period.
Origins and usual tradition
This is Rubí's own major festival, in Vallès Occidental. It centres on the patronal feast of Sant Pere and, although it shares forms of Catalan popular culture with other towns, its calendar, programme and organisation are distinctly local.
Events and traditions
The opening speech begins a broad programme of music, popular and traditional culture, performing arts, sport and family activities. Sant Pere's day features matinades by grallers, the giants' formal procession and dance, the parade to the service, solemn mass for the patron saint, sardanes, havaneres and the closing pyromusical show.

The Festa Major normally lasts several days around 29 June, with morning, afternoon and evening activities. The 2026 edition ran for four days, from 26 to 29 June, and ranged from short workshops and performances to events spread across the whole festival.
Local history
The tradition centres on Sant Pere, whose feast falls on 29 June. The modern ceremonial retains the opening speech, Rubí's giants, grallers, castellers, parades, sardanes and the religious service. At the opening ceremony, groups from Taula de Cultura Popular i Tradicional gather, the giants dance in the square and coca is shared with those attending.
Places
Events are spread across central Rubí. Regular venues include Plaça Pere Aguilera for the opening speech and giants, Sant Pere church for the solemn service, and the Escardívol and Parc del Castell amphitheatre for major concerts, alongside Plaça Doctor Guardiet, Ateneu, Rambla del Ferrocarril, El Celler and El Casino.
Participants and organisation
The Town Council coordinates the celebration with a wide network of cultural, youth and sports organisations. Participants include Taula de Cultura Popular i Tradicional, the giant and devil groups, Castellers de Rubí, Esbart Dansaire, music associations, the parish, clubs and neighbourhood groups.
Other events and cultural dates
Aplec de Sant Muç and Festa dels Xatos form another traditional celebration documented by the Town Council. In 2026 they included a cercavila, giants, castellers, Diables, sardanes, Ball dels Xatos and a communal rice meal in Parc del Castell and the Arborètum.
