Festivals in Viladecans

Local festivals in Viladecans

Viladecans holds a winter Festa Major linked to San Sebastián and a summer Festa Major around the feast of the city's patron, the Virgen de Sales.

Usual celebration

The winter festival is usually celebrated over several days around 20 January. Events fill Plaça de la Vila, the Magdalena Modolell gardens, Cúbic, Can Batllori, Sant Joan church and other places with popular-culture parades, festive beasts, giants, grallers, sardanes, music, storytelling and association-led activities.

The summer festival is centred around 8 September and lasts several days. Its opening speech, fairground, concerts, correfocs, giant gatherings, Festa Xica, habaneras, dance and Festa del Mamut are spread across Parc de la Marina, Torrent Ballester, Plaça d'Europa, the Magdalena Modolell gardens and town-centre streets. The Town Hall organises it with Coordinadora del Mamut, Diables, Castellers, giant and graller groups, associations, clubs, artists, residents and visitors.

Programme for 2026

The winter Festa Major ran from 16 to 24 January, with activities moved to Cúbic and Can Batllori because of rain and some street events cancelled. The summer Festa Major is scheduled from 4 to 8 September: it includes the opening speech and Espavilada del Mamut on the 4th, popular culture, Festa Xica, music stages in Parc de la Marina, Torrent Ballester and Plaça d'Europa, and Festival Ocellets in the Magdalena Modolell gardens.

Local public holidays in 2026

Viladecans' local public holidays in 2026 are 25 May and 8 September. Although 20 January retains its festive importance, it is not one of this year's two paid, non-recoverable local holidays; nor is the entire September programme non-working.

Other events

The calendar is completed by heritage, sports and association-led events at the Museum, cultural venues, parks and squares, independently of the local public holidays.
