The town's most representative winter tradition is the Encamisada de Falset, declared a heritage festival of national interest.
Usual tradition
The Encamisada is usually celebrated on the weekend closest to Saint Anthony Abbot's Day, 17 January, and lasts two days. On Saturday evening and Sunday at midday, participants wearing traditional dress and white shirts travel through Falset's streets with horses and decorated carts. Residents, families, animal owners, cultural associations and the Town Council maintain a celebration connected with the town's agricultural past.
The Festa Major is usually held in August around Santa Càndia, with the seguici festiu, the Mulassa, giants, music and events in streets and squares. In spring, the Fira del Vi brings wineries and visitors together around wines from Priorat's designations of origin.
Local public holidays in 2026
Order EMT/208/2025 sets 25 May and 17 August as Falset's local non-working public holidays for 2026. These dates do not make the whole Encamisada weekend or the entire Festa Major programme non-working periods.
Other cultural events
The Festa Major, Festes de Santa Càndia, Fira del Vi and performances by the Banda Vila de Falset complete the cultural calendar, together with events connected with Priorat wine, food and heritage.
