Festivals and culture in Redondela

The most identifying celebration of Redondela is the Festa da Coca, linked to Corpus Christi. It is celebrated around Corpus Thursday, with several days of cultural and popular programming in the centre of the town.

The main day coincides with Corpus Christi, moving date that changes every year. In 2026 Corpus Thursday was the 4 June, within a festive week held between the end of May and the beginning of June.

The usual places are the streets of the centre of Redondela, the Plaza del Concello, the Alameda, the church area and other urban spaces where floral carpets, processions, music, children's activities and popular events are prepared.

Among the associated traditions, the mythological figure of Coca stands out, the Danza das Espadas, las Penlas, the floral carpets, the Corpus Christi procession and the participation of carpet runners, traditional groups, associations, neighbourhoods, families and visitors.

The local public holiday must be verified each year in the official work calendar of Galicia and in the current municipal agreements; It should not be confused with the entire festival period or with other cultural events in the municipality.

In addition to the Festa da Coca, Redondela has cultural references such as the Festa do Choco, the municipal tourism agenda, activities in the Alameda, cultural programming and resources linked to the estuary, the viaducts and the Camino de Santiago.
