Aranjuez riot, festivals and culture
Las Mutiny Festivals, declared of International Tourist Interest, are usually held on the first weekend in September. Its usual duration is four days, Thursday to Sunday. The central places are the Plaza de la Constitución, the Palacio de Godoy, the Plaza de Parejas of the Royal Palace, the Paseo del Jardín de Isabel II and the section of the Tagus between the old Hanging Bridge and the Puente de Barcas.
The traditions that distinguish the festival are the proclamation, the parade and assault on the Palace of Godoy, the neighbourhood representation of the events of March 1808, the appointment of the Chief Mutineer, the Goyesque market and the Pirate Descent of the Tagus with artisanal boats. The City Council, National Heritage, the ACADA association, clubs, associations and neighbors who play the rioters participate.
In the 2026 annual programme, opening date is Thursday 3 September with the proclamation; The parade and the assault are celebrated on Friday the 4th, the XLII staging in the Plaza de Parejas on Saturday the 5th and the Pirate Descent on the morning of Sunday the 6th. The City Council also announced the La Pegatina concert for 4 September. These events specify a duration of four days, without confusing it with the work calendar.
