Local festivals in Arganda del Rey
Arganda del Rey's patronal festivities honour the Virgen de la Soledad and bring together the Town Council, brotherhood, peñas, regional associations and residents. Their documented origins go back to 1575.
Usual celebration
The celebration lasts for several days during the second week of September. It begins with the first Sunday's flower offering, whose route runs from Fuente Nueva to the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, where members of the brotherhood sing the salve. Town-centre streets and the fair and bullfighting venues host brass bands, sporting events, bull runs, capeas and novice bullfights. The Town Council has announced the 2026 edition for 5 to 16 September.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Community of Madrid resolution declares 11 and 14 September as Arganda del Rey's paid, non-recoverable local public holidays. These are the two official local holidays in 2026; they do not by themselves define the duration of the patronal festivities.
Other events
The local calendar also includes San Juan Bautista on 24 June, Virgen del Carmen in La Poveda on 16 July, Santiago Apóstol on 25 July, San Roque on 16 August and the April Jornadas Cervantinas, featuring theatre, a reading of Don Quixote and a market in Plaza de la Constitución.
