Festivals in Colmenar Viejo: Virgen de los Remedios
Local festivals of Colmenar Viejo
The patron saint festivities of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios are usually celebrated between the last days of August and the first of September. The cycle unites the transfer of the patron saint from her hermitage with musical, popular and bullfighting programming in the urban area.
Usual tradition
The arrival of the Virgin to the Song opens the route to the Basilica of the Assumption, with a stop at the Chapel of Santa Ana and delivery of the baton to the patron saint, honorary mayor. The days include masses, Salve and processions, proclamation, concerts, festivals, parades of giants and big heads, association beach bars, amusement fair and bullfighting festivities. The events occupy the Ermita de los Remedios, El Canto, the basilica, the Plaza del Pueblo, the Plaza de Eulogio Carrasco, the Santiago Esteban Junquer park, the La Corredera bullring and the Las Huertas fairgrounds. The City Council, parish, Symphonic Band, associations, dulzaineros, clubs and public services participate.
2025 programme
The 2025 edition had five main days, from 29 August to 2 September, with previous concerts from the 22nd. On 29 August, the chupinazo in the Plaza del Pueblo, the parade, the arrival of the Virgen al Canto, fireworks and the procession to the basilica were celebrated. The fairgrounds hosted attractions from 28 August to 2 September and the bullring scheduled concerts on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
