Festivals in Tres Cantos
Local festivals in Tres Cantos
Tres Cantos' main celebrations commemorate its establishment as a municipality on 21 March and bring the town together for the San Juan Fiestas Mayores in June.
Usual celebration
The anniversary of the municipal separation is usually celebrated around 21 March with civic ceremonies, culture, sport and participatory activities recalling the independence achieved in 1991. Events are spread across squares, parks, sports facilities and the Cultural Centre, organised by the Town Hall with associations, local groups and residents.
The Fiestas Mayores last several days around San Juan on 24 June. The fairground brings together rides, food stalls, association tents, music, children's activities and fireworks; other events use Plaza de la Familia and venues across the town. Fairground operators, cultural and sports associations, artists, municipal services, families, young and older residents and visitors all participate.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid declares 21 March and 24 June as Tres Cantos' paid, non-recoverable local public holidays in 2026. The first date fell on a Saturday and the official declaration does not itself create a replacement day off; nor does it make every day of the Fiestas Mayores non-working.
Other cultural events
The calendar also includes Carnival, Veladas en el Lago and Ola Septiembre, each with its own programme, duration and places, separate from the two principal celebrations.
