Local festivals in Alcoy
Usual celebration
The Moors and Christians festivities in honour of Saint George are Alcoy's main celebration. Their dates are adjusted each year to the festive calendar, and the three-day Trilogía is preceded by the Musicians' Day. Plaza de España, Sant Nicolau and the streets of the historic centre host the Christian and Moorish Entradas, the Second Diana, processions, embassies, the Alardo and the appearance of Saint George. The Town Council and Associació de Sant Jordi organise the celebration with the filaes, music bands and festival office-holders.
Programme for 2026
The 2026 edition ran from 24 to 27 April and commemorated the 750th anniversary of Saint George's patronage. The 24th was the Musicians' Day; the Trilogía placed the Entradas on the 25th, Saint George's Day on the 26th and the Alardo on the 27th. The programme also included the opening of the Jubilee Year on 23 April, the Solemn Mass and the patron's processions.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Valencian Community's official calendar declared 25 and 27 April as paid, non-recoverable local public holidays in Alcoy. The 26 April Saint George's Day in the 2026 programme was not one of those two local non-working days.
Other events
Mig Any and the Three Kings Parade are other major festive dates in the city; Modernist Week and the Mostra de Teatre extend its cultural calendar.
