Usual celebration

Les Fogueres de Sant Joan are Alicante's official festivities and are usually held from 20 to 24 June. The main places are the city's neighbourhoods and centre, where foguera monuments, racós and barracas remain for five days; Plaza de los Luceros hosts the mascletàs, while Plaza del Ayuntamiento stages parades and civic events. At midnight on the 24th, the Palmera fired from Mount Benacantil gives the signal for the Cremà of the bonfires.

Programme for 2026

The official 2026 programme included the Entry of Bands on 17 June, the mascletà competition from the 19th to the 24th in Plaza de los Luceros, the Floral Offering on the 21st and 22nd and the International Folklore Parade on the 23rd. The 24th ended with the Monumental Palmera and the Cremà; the firework display competition continued from the 25th at Postiguet beach.

Local public holidays in 2026

The official calendar declared 16 April, Santa Faz, and 23 June, Fogueres de Sant Joan, as paid, non-recoverable local public holidays in Alicante. The 24 June was a Valencian Community public holiday, not one of the municipality's two chosen local non-working days.

Other events

The Santa Faz pilgrimage and the Moors and Christians festivities in several neighbourhoods complete the city's festive calendar, alongside cultural programmes at the Teatro Principal, MARQ and Santa Bárbara Castle.
