Festivals in La Torre de les Maçanes

Local festivals in La Torre de les Maçanes

The festive calendar of this Alicante municipality combines religious observances, music, processions and community customs. Highlights include Sant Gregori and the Pa Beneit, Santa Anna and the Mare de Déu dels Fadrins festivities, whose best-known event is La Banyà.

Usual celebrations

The main Sant Gregori festivities take place during the week of 9 May. Their distinctive feature is the Pa Beneit: large handmade loaves decorated with flowers and embroidered fabrics, carried in the bread parade. Events include offerings, a procession and the involvement of festers and residents.

Santa Anna is celebrated around 26 July with religious, cultural and community events. The week of 15 August brings the Mare de Déu dels Fadrins festivities, traditionally organised by the town's unmarried young men. They include music, competitions, gunpowder displays, Valencian pilota and religious events.

La Banyà

La Banyà takes place at 1 pm on 15 August. It is a large water fight using buckets and other containers. The Town Council says participants should wear clothes or fancy dress rather than swimwear. See the La Banyà festival page.

Local public holidays in 2026

Alicante Provincial Council lists 8 May 2026, for Sant Gregori, and 27 July 2026, for Santa Anna, as the municipality's local non-working holidays. These days do not represent the full duration of either celebration.

Other celebrations

The Immaculate Conception is usually celebrated on 6, 7 and 8 December with an offering, Mass, procession and community activities. The San Isidro pilgrimage combines religious observances, a floral offering and an outdoor meal.
