Usual celebration

The Magdalena festivities recall the city's foundational move and are usually held over nine days from the third Saturday of Lent. Plaza Mayor, the central streets and the Magdalena hermitage host the Pregó, the Romeria de les Canyes, mascletaes, gaiata parades and lighting, the offering to Mare de Déu del Lledó and the closing Magdalena Vítol.

The Municipal Festival Board and the Town Hall organise the cycle with gaiata committees, collas, bands, associations, residents and visitors.

2026 programme

The 2026 Magdalena festivities ran from 7 to 15 March. The official programme placed the Pregó on the 7th, the Romeria de les Canyes and gaiata parade on the 8th, the children's Pregó and Encesa de Gaiates on the 9th, the Lledó offering on the 14th, and the final parade and Magdalena Vítol on the 15th.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Generalitat Valenciana sets Monday 9 March 2026, Magdalena Monday, and Monday 29 June 2026, the feast of Saint Peter, as local public holidays.

Other events

The city also celebrates Mare de Déu del Lledó on the first Sunday in May and the Sant Pere festivities in the Grau district in late June, with religious, maritime and neighbourhood events.
