Alcoy Moors and Christians Programme 2026

The main events of the Moors and Christians of Alcoy 2026 were held from 24 April to 27. The Festive Trilogy occupied the 25th, 26th and 27th: Tickets, Saint George's Day and Alardo. The edition commemorated the 750th anniversary of the patronage of Saint George and the opening of the Jubilee Year.

Previous events of April 2026

  • From 5 April to 23, 22:30-01:30: entraetes of the different filaes, from the Font Redona through Sant Nicolau to the Town Hall and from the Avenida del País Valencià to the Teatro Calderón.
  • Sunday 12, 08:30: mass in the parish of Santa María; 12:00-14:00: Gloria Infantil from El Partidor to the church of San Jorge, followed by mascletà in the Plaza de España.
  • Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th, 8:30 p.m.: theater festival at the Teatro Calderón, with La Tempesta, from the Artistic Chart of the Association of San Jorge.
  • Saturday 18, 6:30 p.m.: parade from the Casal de Sant Jordi; 19:00: harquebucery act from the Font Redona through Sant Nicolau to the Plaza de España, with a pyrotechnic finale around 9:00 p.m.
  • Monday 20, 8:15 p.m.: procession of the transfer of Sant Jordi el Xicotet and the Relic from the church of San Jorge to the parish of Santa María.
  • Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd, 8:15 p.m.; Thursday 23, 7:30 p.m.: triduum in the parish of Santa María. After the service on the 23rd, the Jubilee Year opened.

Friday, 24 April: Musicians' Day

  • 18:45: musical opening with the groups of dulzaineros and drummers from Alcoy.
  • 19:00: Festa del Pasdoble from Avenida del País Valencià, near Santa Llúcia, to Plaza de España; joint interpretation of the Holiday Anthem and fireworks display.
  • 21:30-02:00: Nit de l'Olla, dinner of festers and musicians in each filà, followed by plainclothes parades from Sant Nicolau and Avenida del País Valencià.

Saturday, 25 April: Entry Day

  • 05:00: misa del fester in the parish of Santa María.
  • 05:45: raising of the banner of the cross and Diana from the Plaza de España; the first filà It left at 05:50 and the last one around 07:45.
  • 10:30: Christian Entrance from El Partidor through Sant Nicolau, Plaza de España and Sant Llorenç to the end of Avenida del País Valencià. The captain arrived at the plaza around 11:15 to receive the keys to the villa.
  • 17:00: Mora entrance from El Partidor along the same route. The captain arrived at the Plaza de España around 5:45 p.m.

Sunday, 26 April: St. George's Day

  • 08:30-10:30: Second Diana, with special children's participation; The Christian side left from Font Redona and the Moor from Avenida del País Valencià.
  • 11:00: procession of the Relic from the church of San Jorge to Santa María, arriving around 12:00; then high mass.
  • 14:00: mascletà in the Plaza de España.
  • 18:00: Diana Vespertina del Cavallet from the Font Redona to the Plaza de España, starring Realistes and Berberiscos.
  • 19:30: general procession from the Placeta del Carbó to the church of San Jorge, with a scheduled end around 9:30 p.m.
  • 23:30: Retreat from the intersection of El Camí and Sant Mateu through Sant Nicolau, Plaza de España and Sant Tomàs to the church of San Jorge.

Monday, 27 April: Day of Alardo or battle

  • 08:00: Smuggling of the filaes Andalusians and Labradors in the Plaza de España.
  • 08:45-09:45: guerrillas with musketry in the central area; At 09:45 the Christian captain and ensign took possession of the castle.
  • 10:00: Estafeta and Mora Embassy in the Plaza de España.
  • 11:00: Morning boast; After the battle of the harquebusier and the symbolic fight, the Moorish side took the castle.
  • 16:15: taking possession of the castle by the Moorish captain and ensign.
  • 16:30: Estafeta and Christian Embassy in the Plaza de España.
  • 17:30: Evening boast; the fire of the filaes It ended before the church of Saint George before 8:00 p.m. and the Christian side recovered the castle.
  • At the end of the Alardo: accompaniment of Sant Jordi el Xicotet from Santa María to the church of San Jorge and thanksgiving.
  • 21:30: Appearance of Saint George on the battlements of the castle in the Plaza de España, with the Festival Anthem and fireworks.
  • 22:00: Soparets in the Plaza de España and surrounding areas.

Ticket Tour

The Cristiana and Mora Entrances started from El Partidor, went down Sant Nicolau to Plaza de España and continued through Sant Llorenç until the end of Avenida del País Valencià. The official script also details the order of captaincies, lieutenants and filaes de ambos bandos.
