San Lorenzo and local holidays in Huesca
Las Festivals in San Lorenzo, declared of National Tourist Interest, are held every year from 9 August to 15: its usual duration is, therefore, siete días, and the main day is 10 August. The announcing rocket opens the festival on the 9th from the Cathedral Square. The white and green of the clothing and the basil identify a week in which the city also receives numerous visitors.
The traditional events have as their central locations the Plaza de la Catedral, the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the urban centre, the Miguel Servet Park, the Plaza de Navarre, the Plaza Luis López Allué and the fairgrounds. Highlights include the dances of swords, sticks and ribbons by the Danzantes de Huesca, the procession on the 10th, the closing offering, the giants, bigheads and caballicos, the brass bands and the parades of the peñas. The City Council, the Royal Brotherhood of San Lorenzo, the Danzantes, the Peñas Recreativas Oscenses, musical groups, associations, neighbors and visitors participate.
2026 edition: The City Council has expressly arranged for the 2026 festivities the attractions of the fairgrounds, the San Lorenzo Market and the bars on the stages of the Palacio de Congresos, Plaza Luis López Allué and Plaza General Alsina. These preparations confirm the annual edition and its spaces, while the specific schedules and actions correspond to the municipal programme of each day.
Local public holidays in 2026: The resolution published in the Official Gazette of Aragon establishes the 22 January, San Vicente, and the 10 August, San Lorenzo. They are the two paid days, non-recoverable and non-working days at the municipal level; They should not be confused with the seven days that the Laurentian celebration lasts.
