Holy Week in Alcalá de Henares 2026 programme
The official programme extended from services and concerts in February and March to Easter Sunday, 5 April 2026. The main procession days began on the Friday of Sorrows, 27 March. Friday of Sorrows, 27 March
At 9 pm, the Hermandad del Cristo de los Desamparados y María Santísima de las Angustias left the Catedral Magistral. Its route included Santos Niños, Escritorios, Carmen Calzado, Cervantes, Mayor, Imagen, Santiago and Palacio before returning to the Cathedral.
Passion Saturday, 28 March
At 9.30 am, Jesús Despojado was transferred from the Monasterio de San Juan de la Penitencia to the Cathedral. Santo Entierro images left Santa Clara at 5 pm, and Esperanza y Trabajo and Misericordia returned to Las Claras convent at 9.30 pm.
Palm Sunday, 29 March
The Borriquilla left the Cathedral at 10.40 am; palms were blessed at 11 am in the Palacio Arzobispal courtyard. Jesús Despojado began its penitential procession at 4 pm, with its return scheduled for 10.30 pm.
Holy Monday and Tuesday, 30 and 31 March
On Monday, Esperanza y Trabajo held its Stations of the Cross and transfer at 5.30 pm, and Desamparados left the Cathedral at 9 pm. Tuesday included a procession at the Francisco de Vitoria residence at 5.30 pm, the Virgen de la Salud transfer at 7.30 pm and the Cathedral Stations of the Cross at 10 pm.
Holy Wednesday, 1 April
Esperanza y Trabajo left the Las Claras convent courtyard at 7.30 pm. Cristo Atado a la Columna and María Santísima de las Lágrimas y del Consuelo left the Carmelite convent at 8 pm, with their return expected around midnight.
Maundy Thursday, 2 April
Los Doctrinos left the University's Aula de Música at 7 pm and held their meeting at about 8.30 pm in San Diego. Medinaceli began at 8 pm from Colegio de Málaga, using Colegios, San Diego, Libreros, Santiago, Mayor and Santos Niños.
Good Friday, 3 April
Medinaceli began its Procesión Trinitaria at 7 pm from Colegio de Málaga. Soledad Coronada left Santa María la Mayor at 7.30 pm. Santo Entierro departed from the Catedral Magistral at 11 pm.
Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday
The Easter Vigil was held in the Cathedral at 10 pm on Saturday 4 April. On Sunday 5, the Resucitado procession left at 8 am; the meeting took place at 11 am in the Palacio Arzobispal courtyard. The Easter Eucharist was held in the Cathedral at 1 pm.
