Holy Week in Alcalá de Henares brings penitential processions, sacred music and liturgical services to the city's historic centre. When it is held
The main events run from the Friday of Sorrows to Easter Sunday, on movable dates set by the liturgical calendar. Services, transfers, concerts and exhibitions may begin several weeks earlier.

The Catedral Magistral de los Santos Niños, Palacio Arzobispal, Santa María la Mayor and the historic centre's convents and churches serve as bases and calling points. Routes use streets and squares including Mayor, Libreros, Santiago, Cervantes, Santos Niños and Palacio, although they vary by edition.

Brotherhoods and processions
Nine penitential brotherhoods organise the processions. Recurring events include the Borriquilla on Palm Sunday, the Cathedral Stations of the Cross, the penitential processions on Holy Wednesday and Maundy Thursday, the Good Friday processions and the meeting of the risen Christ with his Mother on Easter Sunday.
Heritage and music
