Molinaseca Water Festival
The Fiesta del Agua transforms Calle Real in Molinaseca every 17 August. The celebration combines an early-morning community gathering with the release of water that runs down the town's main street.
Date and venue
It is held annually on 17 August, with events from early morning. Its central setting is Calle Real, a historic street along the Camino de Santiago, although the programme also extends to Plaza del Rollo, the river swimming area and other venues.
See the 2026 Molinaseca Water Festival and town festivities programme and the Molinaseca local festivals page.
Traditions
The day is associated with a tour of the local wine cellars, morning hot chocolate and the release of water along Calle Real. Residents and visitors move along the street as the water flows downhill; brass bands, games, communal meals and music complete the celebration in each edition.
Recognition
The León Provincial Council identifies Molinaseca's Fiesta del Agua as a Popular Event of Provincial Tourist Interest and dates it to 17 August. Its tourism material places the traditional start in the early hours between 16 and 17 August, followed by hot chocolate and the release of water.
